Anaheim 1 - Supercross

The Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series is finally here and it started out with some great racing that came down to the last lap.  Here is how our riders started the season.

Lites Class:

Star-Valli Rockstar Yamaha’s Nico Izzi finished 3^rd in Heat 2.  His teammate Ryan Sipes had to go to the LCQ and finished 2^nd to qualify for the Main.  Garreth Swanepoel was battling behind Sipes but finished 4^th and shy of a transfer spot.

For the main, Sipes finished 5^th and Izzi finished 12^th overall.

Supercross Class:

Two Two Motorsport’s Chad Reed battled past Mike Alessi to take 1^st in Heat 1.  Star-Valli Rockstar Yamaha’s Ryan Morais finished 5^th and BTO Sports Suzuki Jimmy Albertson finished 8^th in the same heat.

In the Main, Ryan Villopoto charged to the front on the first lap with Chad Reed trailing.  James Stewart and Ryan Dungy charged from the back of the pack to challenge Reed for second place.  Villopoto was cruising up front.  It became a back and forth battle between Stewart and Dungy for 3^rd with Dungy eventually winning and putting pressure on Reed.  Reed held Dungy off and took 2^nd overall.
