Outdoor Nationals Round 2 - Freestone MX

250 MX Lites Class - Moto 1

On the first lap, Justin Barcia is leading World MX 2 Motocross Champion Marvin Musquin - Justin loses control going into a left hand corner, and Marvin has no where to go but right into him! Bikes are bouncing and flying around.  The crash leaves Marvin's bike on the ground, Marvin walking off the track, ... and Barcia gets going again, around 20th.  That leaves red plate holder Blake Baggett in the lead. But on lap three, Baggett goes down! The running order five laps in: Dean Wilson leading, teammate Tyla Rattray second, then K Cunningham, G Swanepoel, Izzi, R Sipes, Tomac, M Lemoine, L Vincent, and Baggett up to tenth now.  Ten laps in - Dean Wilson is leading, Tyla Rattray second, then Kyle Cunningham, Gareth Swanepoel, Eli Tomac, Nico Izzi, M Lemoine, Blake Baggett, Justin Barcia, and Alex Martin round out the top ten.

Dean Wilson has won this moto! 16 laps. Best lap was 2 minutes 10 seconds. Tyla Rattray second, Kyle Cunningham third. Then Swanepoel, Tomac, Izzi, Baggett, Lemoine, Barcia, Davalos. Malcolm Stewart 11th. Broc Tickle, the West Coast Regional Supercross Champion, did not finish the first moto.

450 MX Class - Moto 1

Christian Craig was the early leader. Christophe Pourcel was running in second. But the 'big three' of this season - Chad Reed, Ryan Dungey, and Ryan Villopoto - moved to the front.  Reed, strong and fit - wins this race in the heat of Texas.  Ryan Dungey is second.  Supercross Champ Ryan Villopoto third. Davi Millsaps moves up to fourth, Christian Craig nice ride to finish fifth.

Reedy went 16 laps in the win, his fastest lap 2 minutes 8 seconds. Christophe Pourcel slowed towards the end, and pulled off.

250 MX Lites Class - Moto 2

Justin Barcia, who had a less than stellar first moto, is leading this moto. Things are not looking good for Marvin Musquin, as he did not start (DNS) this race.  At the halfway point, it's Barcia leading, Kyle Cunningham second, Tyla Rattray third, Nico Izzi fourth, Eli Tomac fifth, Dean Wilson sixth, Cole Seely next, and then Broc Tickle.  However, Tyla Rattray has something to say about this race, as he's moved into first position. Barcia is second, Dean Wilson has moved into third, Kyle Cunningham is fourth, Broc Tickle is fifth, Eli Tomac sixth.

And that's how this moto finishes as Tyla Rattray has won the moto and the overall in 250 MX Lites! Barcia finishes second, Wilson third, then Cunningham, Tickle, Tomac, Davalos, Seely, Howell, and Vincent round out the top ten. Dean Wilson takes second overall behind teammate Rattray.

450 MX Class - Moto 2

In moto 2 it's defending Motocross Class Champion Ryan Dungey on his Suzuki, and 2009 MX Class Champion Chad Reed on his Honda battling up front.  At the five lap mark of this race, running order is Dungey, Reed, Davi Millsaps, Brett Metcalfe, Ryan Villopoto, Ricky Dietrich, Kevin Windham, Jake Weimer, Christian Craig and Andrew Short rounding out the top ten. Byrne is 11th, Simmonds 12th. Pourcel drops out on this lap.  Now ten laps in - Dungey and Reed are looking like they are going to trade moto wins, both this week, and last week, and remain tied on points .. although Dungey should get the overall win today if positions stay the same - it's Dungey leading by a nice margin, Reed second, Millsaps, Ryan Villopoto, B Metcalfe, R Dietrich, Andrew Short, Jake Weimer, Kevin Windham, Christian Craig, Tye Simmonds.  After 30 minutes of racing, and with less than two laps to go, Ryan Dungey is out. Ryan has slowed, then stopped. Looks like there is a problem with the bike, and he will not finish this race, after leading so much of it.

The winner of this moto, and the overall victory, Chad Reed! Davi Millsaps finishes second in this race, followed by Brett Metcalfe, Ricky Dietrich, and Ryan Villopoto.
