2011 AMA Motocross - Round 7 - Spring Creek MX - Millville, MN

Motocross Class Moto 1

As the gate dropped in moto 1 it was Chad Reed with the holeshot followed closely by Ryan Dungey and Trey Canard, and Nick Wey goes down to find himself in last place.  After the first lap it was Reed, Dungy, Canard, Mike Alessi, Brett Metcalfe, Ryan Villopoto, Jake Weimer, Tommy Hahn, Kevin Windham, and Jimmy Albertson rounding out the top 10.  On the second lap Villopoto tried to go after Metcalfe for 5th, but can't cant make the pass until Brett went down on lap 4.  Canard made a mistake on lap 3, Alessi took advantage and made the pass for 3rd.  5 laps in Reed and Dungy far ahead of the pack, Reed loses his googles and Dungy almost goes over his bars in the roller section, loses time and fell farther behind Reed.  On lap 6 Ashley Fiolek's ESPY's date, Christian Craig pulls of the track.  At the half way point, Villopoto moved into 4th as he passed Canard.  Under 10 mins, Chad Reed leads on lap 10, 4 seconds ahead of Dungey, Villopoto passes Alessi for 3rd while Canard still in 5th 26 seconds behind the leader.  Lap 11, with less than 5 minutes left on the clock, Reed was still leading without goggles.  As the Checked flag falls Chad Reed wins moto 1 followed by Dungy (-9), Villopoto (-30) Alessi (-41), Canard, Metcalfe, Short, Weimer, Simmonds, and Albertson rounding out the top 10.

250 Class Moto 1

Kyle Cunningham got the holeshot, but Dean Wilson immediately took away lead, followed by Tyla Rattray in 3rd. Ryan Sipes got out of the gate in 4th, followed by one of Blake Baggett's best starts in 5th. Justin Barcia was just outside ot the top 10.  4 laps into the race Rattraymoved into 2nd, 3 seconds behind the leader Wilson. Barcia and Tickle moved into the top 10 a Baggett passed Sipes on lap 5.  On lap 7 Tomac and Durham passed Sipes who dropped to 7th. Justin Barcia, who was in 8th, crashed and ran off the track holding his broken nose.  On lap 9 its all Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki with Wilson, Rattray and Baggett in the top three.  On the final lap Wilson made some mistakes, but Rattray was unable to take advantage. Monster Pro Circuit Kawasaki sweeps Moto 1 with Wilson taking 1st, Rattray in 2nd and Baggett finishing in 3rd. Motocross Class Moto 2

At the start Chad Reed finds himself at the front of the pack in front of Villopoto and Dungey. As Reed hits the jump, his bike goes sideways. He loses the bike while 40 feet in the air. Luckily Reedy lands on the downhill grassy side of the jump.  Five Laps into Moto 2, it was Villopopto with a 6 second lead over Ryan Dungey. Trey Canard found himself in 3rd with Mike Alessi and Metcalfe rounding out the top 5, as Chad Reed moved up to 26th.  Through 10 laps Dungey gave RV all he could handle, battling for 5 minutes to closed the gap to 1.3 seconds. On the 13th lap Dungey went for an aggressive pass as RV went to the ground. As Villopoto got back on his bike, he found himself 22 seconds back of the new leader Ryan Dungey. As the clock hit zero, the crowd roared as Dungey went by them.  Winner of Moto 2 is Ryan Dungey, followed by Villopoto and Canard in 3rd. Rounding out the top 10: Alessi, Metcalfe, Weimer, Brayton, Hahn, Short and Windham. After the scariest crash of his career, Chad Reed made up some valuable points finsihing 14th and quite possible saved his season.

250 Class Moto 2

Once again it was Kyle Cunningham first out of the gate, followed by Tyla Rattray, Dean WIlson and Alex Martin in 4th (who's parents own the track). At the of the first lap it was Rattray in the lead with Wison in third behind Cunningham.  On the second lap Wilson made the exact same pass on Cunningham that Rattray made on lap one, while Blake Bagget was in 21st.  9 laps into Moto 2 Blake Baggett moved into 4th passing Martin who went off the track.
